Time Event
I know your probably all sick of hearing this.. but....

Following a National release yesterday that Australia only had 36 hours of O type blood remaining, The Blood Service in WA is also appealing to all people with O type blood to come forward and donate as soon as possible.

Blood stocks continue to be in constant demand and issues to hospitals have increased. This means for WA, instead of needing 2000 blood donations each week, we now need 2100 blood donations each week.

O type blood is in constant demand. Forty percent (40%) of the community have O positive blood and 9 % have the universal O negative blood that can be transfused to people of any blood type. This equates to 1029 of the weekly blood donations required to treat numerous patients and people with blood disorders.
The WA Blood Service has extended the opening hours of several metro blood centres including Bunbury over the next couple of days to assist in collecting O type blood.

Today is a typical winter day that spells trouble for The Blood Service as it deters many new donors and adds to the loss of loyal donors due to cold and flu's at this time of year.

If you are aged between 16 & 70, weigh over 45 kgs and are in general good health, please telephone 13 14 95 during office hours to make an appointment at one of our six metro Blood Donor Centres located in Perth, Cannington, Whitfords, Fremantle, Midland and Rockingham.

Thank you once again for your support and we look forward to hearing from you!
